Hear it on Sunday, use it on Monday?

I just started looking at blogs. I found an amazing online community of Christian women, posting about their faith. Some in beautiful poetry. And how amazing is" hear it on Sunday, use it on Monday" by Michelle at http://nebraskagraceful.blogspot.com/

My pastor spoke on Scripture Union on Sunday - on a fifth Sunday we learn about mission. The thing that really spoke to me in the service were the words from the Timothy Dudley-Smith hymn
"Self on the cross and Christ upon the throne"
Did you know that " Lord, for the years your love has kept and guided," was written for the Scripture union? Its a great hymn and this week I'll be mostly trying to to live up to this last verse

Lord for ourselves; in living power remake us-
self on the cross, and Christ upon the throne,
past put behind us, for the future take us:
Lord of our lives, to live for Christ alone.

And thanks to all the ladies I'm following for their inspiration. You're supporting me without even knowing I exist. Amazing.

White Stones

Our Pastor (in training) offered us a lovely white stone as a prayer aid. She had written 'live' on it as we were learning about John 21. Peter chooses to live for Jesus, knowing that he will die for him too. The pastor mentioned also that white stones were mentioned in Revelation. So I had to look it up.
Revelation 2  17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

I found lots of information and opinions on this and my white stone is now even more encouraging.
White stones were used as a kind of entrance ticket or given as a prize.

"In the ancient world a white stone was used as an admission ticket to public festivals..."
(Jewish New Testament Commentary, David Stern)

White stones were also used to denote acquittal in greek courts.
Special guests were given white stones with a message or name on for their eyes only. The  word for stone psephos can also mean vote or voice.

Found a lovely meditation on the white stone and what our new name could mean on http://sandraheskaking.com/2011/02/monday-meditation-the-white-stone/

My stone is just a white stone but it does remind me of the new life I have been given.

Hope and confidence in troubled times

Reading my Wordlive bible reading I was a word for myself and my friends.

Job 4
 3 Think how you have instructed many,
       how you have strengthened feeble hands.
 4 Your words have supported those who stumbled;
       you have strengthened faltering knees.
 5 But now trouble comes to you, and you are discouraged;
       it strikes you, and you are dismayed.
 6 Should not your piety be your confidence
       and your blameless ways your hope?
 7 "Consider now: Who, being innocent, has ever perished?
       Where were the upright ever destroyed?

In confidence that we have instructed and supported many feeble and faltering ones I am taking these words to support me through the current troubled times and give hope for us moving on.
